One of the great controversies in the field of psychology relates to how we define normal and abnormal behavior. There is general agreement with the official definitions of abnormal behavior; that is, abnormal behavior is severe or maladaptive enough to need diagnosis and psychological or psychiatric treatment. These official definitions are contained in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). There have been many revisions of this manual over the years. Currently, we are using the fifth edition, or the DSM-5 (APA, 2013).
Children and adolescents who display certain behaviors that cause them to have significant difficulty in their everyday functioning are likely to be diagnosed with one of the disorders in the DSM. Some of those diagnoses are temporary, whereas others are life-long.
Review the following case:
Anna, a four-year-old Mexican-American girl, lives with her mother and father. Anna’s parents immigrated to the United States years before her birth. Her mother speaks only Spanish with her, while her father speaks only English. Anna’s parents are migrant workers who must move regularly. Anna and her parents have moved over ten times since her birth. They hope to provide Anna with more stability, now that she is approaching school age. Therefore, they are seeking other forms of employment.
Anna recently completed kindergarten orientation. The school psychologist recommended that her parents have her evaluated further, as her speech development is significantly delayed. She speaks very little; her vocabulary was screened at the kindergarten orientation and was found to be at least two years behind typical speech development. During the kindergarten screening, Anna was hyperactive, unable to sit still, distracted, and unable to complete the tasks. She was unable to complete them partially due to their difficulty level, but also due to her inability to focus sufficiently.
After a thorough evaluation at the local mental health center, Anna was diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She began participating in a behavioral modification program with a bilingual therapist, who speaks both English and Spanish. She will be evaluated in a few weeks by the psychiatrist, who will decide whether to prescribe stimulant medication for the ADHD.
Based on your analysis of the case, respond to the following:
Analyze the pros and cons of diagnosing Anna with a mental health disorder. Identify at least three benefits and at least three costs Anna and her family may experience as a result of her diagnosis. When deciding which pros and cons to identify, consider benefits and costs related to at least fourof the following categories:
Stigma
Prescription of psychiatric medication to children
Selection of a psychotherapy approach
Multicultural factors
Labeling or mislabeling of children
Early intervention
Write your initial response in 300–500 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources, including in-text citations and full references. Incorporate information from at least two academic sources to support your statements or ideas. Academic sources could include your textbook, required readings for this week, or academic journal articles found in the online library.
Provide a statement of clarification, a point of view with rationale, challenge a point of discussion, or draw a relationship between one or more points of the discussion of at least two other students. Consider commenting on the following:
Consider how you may have responded if Anna had a different cultural background.
Address one of the categories you did not choose from the list.
Explain whether you agree with the benefits and costs identified by your peers, and why.
Request more information from peers who may have listed less than three benefits or three costs.
Suggest interesting resources, Web sites, or articles you located for this assignment, and provide references for academic research articles that you have found in your research. Summarize the researched information for your peers.

Assignment 2: Letter to Freud
In this assignment you are to write a letter to Sigmund Freud critiquing three of the most important concepts in his theory. You will need to include at least two reliable outside sources in your critique of Freud’s concepts. Scholarly sources are preferred and can be found through AUO’s Library. Additional, non-scholarly sources from reputable Web and print sources are also acceptable. For reputable Web sources, look for .org, .net, or .edu sites as opposed to .com sites. Please do not use Wikipedia.
The three concepts you will be critiquing are the:
Unconscious
Psychosexual stages of development
Structure of personality
Begin your letter with a paragraph introducing yourself.
Each of the three issues should serve as a separate heading in your letter. Under each heading, include at least:
One substantive paragraph summarizing the concept clearly and thoroughly as Freud might explain it.
1-2 paragraphs, critiquing the concept. Explain what you think is valid or invalid about his understanding of this concept. You are welcome to agree or disagree with his views but it is important that you attempt to bring in relevant and current research to substantiate your agreement or disagreement. This should be an objective critique of some of Freud’s concepts versus simply an opinion paper.
Follow this procedure for EACH of the three concepts mentioned above.
Conclude your letter with a paragraph summarizing your key points.
After completing the letter, include a paragraph or two explaining how Freud’s concept of the unconscious might be effectively used by a psychoanalytic therapist practicing today. Explain at least two techniques that might be used and the expected outcome of these techniques.
Submit your response to the M2: Assignment 2 Dropbox by Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Your paper should be at least 1200 words in length, follow APA style for attributing sources, and include a reference page.
Assignment 1: Discussion Question: Birth Order: nursing essay help
NOTE: This is a public forum so students should consider their responses carefully before posting.
One of the concepts that students most enjoy about Adler’s theory are his ideas about birth order. For this discussion, carefully read the text and lecture notes on Adler’s birth order and then respond to the following questions: 1. Of the five designated birth order positions Adler identifies (oldest, second child, middle child, youngest and only child), which of these positions do you think has the most challenging developmental task of growing up to become a healthy, mature adult? Explain your rationale in detail taking an objective approach that is not based on your own family experience. 2. If you were an Adlerian therapist, which of the five birth order positions do you think would be most challenging to work with? Support your reasoning with some objective facts about the types of behavior found in that birth order position. 3. What birth order position best fits your experience in your family of origin? Do you believe his description gives an accurate picture of you and your siblings? Explain your response in detail.
Assignment 2: Discussion Question: Values of a Therapist
In an ideal world, the values of the therapist would not influence therapy or the therapist’s reactions to clients. However, when therapists deny their values or minimize their views on important issues during interactions with clients, this can cause problems in the therapeutic relationship. In an effort to explore the many issues that can arise concerning a therapist’s values and how they affect the therapeutic process, please respond thoroughly to each of the following questions:
Do you think therapists should deliberately reveal their values to a client in therapy? If so, why do you believe this is important? If not, what potential difficulties might this cause for the client or the therapeutic process?
How much importance should a therapist place on helping the client identify and verbalize his or her values as they relate to their presenting problem?
Based upon your response to question 2, explain why a client’s value system is vital or inconsequential to the therapeutic process?
Discuss one practical strategy you could use in therapy to help identify and clarify a client’s value system without imposing your own.

Child Psychology paper(2): nursing coursework help
Chapter 2 describes several important developmental theories and how these theories help us make sense out of tremendous amounts of information about our experiences and understanding of development. Each of the grand theories (psychoanalytic, cognitive, and behavioral) provides important insights on development, each with a different focus on emotions, thinking, and behavior. Web Links for Ch. 2 provide additional information about Freud, Vygotsky, Piaget and Erikson and their theories. Video lesson 1, “The developing Person,” explores the major theories of development, and points out that development is a lifelong process.
Describe some of the limitations of the “grand” theories, and explain why they seem less comprehensive and inclusive today. Why were the results of Harlow’s experiments surprising to both the psychoanalytic and behavioral theorists?
Berger suggests that there are important gaps in these theories that are only now being addressed by “sociocultural theory” and “epigenetic systems theory.” Explain.
List five major contributions of these theories.
Discuss how each of these theories contribute to our understanding of (choose one) the following major controversies:
Continuity vs. Discontinuity;
Difference vs. Deficit; or
Nature vs. Nurture.

Reading Analysis Assignment APA Format: nursing assignment help services
ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES:
Develop a total of 3 papers (an article each) of 2-3-pages long. Each paper must be typewritten with12-point font and double-spaced with standard margins. Follow APA format when referring to the selected articles or book chapters and include a reference page (not included in page limit).
Papers should address key themes of the readings, and your analysis of the material. The papers should reflect your thoughts on the assigned readings: I want to see your integration of ideas, and your interpretation of issues. Do not summarize the content of the readings nor reflect on your feelings, but rather provide a point of view, a thesis, or an argument based on evidence from the readings, your own social work practice, and other experiences.
Some key steps to writing an analysis paper:
Read the chosen articles
Summarize the articles (If you stopped here, you would be submitting a summary paper.)
3. Reflect on what the articles mean to you, what thoughts or feelings were generated. (If you stopped here, you would be submitting a reflection paper.)
· What is your reaction to the content of the articles?
· How do the articles relate to one another?
· What did you learn about violence & abuse in childhood?
Now you are ready to begin writing your analysis paper. Create a thesis statement or argument that you will defend using the articles to justify your points. In essence, you take a stance on a particular issue, supported by 3-4 points supported by the literature. Your thesis statement is often the last sentence of your opening introductory paragraph. Often, your thesis statement will be a “should” statement (e.g. social workers should take a feminist perspective when talking about the cause of physical abuse). You then make your 3-4 points, using the literature to support your argument and linking the paragraphs together to make one seamless argument.
Conclude with a summary of your argument and your major points as well as a brief discussion of how your argument impacts the clients you serve.
Evaluation will be based on how clearly you respond to the above, in particular:
a) The clarity with which you critique the articles;
b) The depth, scope, and organization of your paper; and,
c) Your conclusions, including a description of the impact of these articles on your thoughts about family violence.

Habitat and Niche
In my assignment, I am an Ecologist studying Penguins mating in the Arctic
This week you are exploring the characteristics of our species and the role we play in our ecosystem. Two terms commonly used to describe an organism’s place in the environment is their “habitat” and their “niche.” A habitat is defined as an area inhabited by particular species. A niche is defined as the role (job), activities and resources used by an organism. For example, a polar bear’s habitat is the arctic whereas its niche is to swim, eat fish, walruses and seals, and to take care of polar bear cubs. Have you ever considered the characteristics of your niche or thought about what might happen if you were forced to switch to another niche? This Assignment will give you the opportunity to compare and contrast the niche that you live in with an assigned niche (described below).
Your essay should include:
A description of your personal niche and of your assigned niche highlighting the similarities and differences.
A description of your personal habitat and your assigned habitat highlighting the similarities and differences.
Consider what characteristics would provide a survival advantage to you or to the individuals who currently occupy each niche and habitat.
How have humans adapted to the two habitats and niches?
What difficulties might you have living in the assigned niche and why?
What types of cultural adaptations have evolved from living in your niche? Your assigned niche?
Your discussion should consider any biological adaptations as well; things such as dealing with food spoilage, insect vector control, food and waterborne illnesses, etc.

Choose ONE of the following options to complete and submit:
Option 1 – You are unique. You have relationships and experiences unlike others. By understanding childhood one gains a greater understanding of adulthood. For this assignment define child development and develop a “timeline” of significant dates, events, and/or people that you perceive contributed to your development as a child. The timeline should incorporate the age period from infancy through adolescence. There is flexibility with this assignment but you might have columns with dates, events, and/or relationships indicated or you might prefer making a drawing indicating these components and scan it as an attachment.
OR
Option 2 – Respond to the following questions:
In thinking about child development who is or has been a “model” for you?
What are some things you perceive as learning as a child through observing this model?
Who do you perceive being a significant model for?
What are others learning by observing you as a model?

SPSSAssignment Part 1 Instructions
The Center forEpidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D Scale)
In the Assignment Instructions folder, there is an SPSS data filethat will be the basis for your analysis. The data included are fictional andwere created solely for this assignment.
The Center forEpidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D scale) is often utilized tomeasure depressive symptomology (Radloff, 1977). It is a self-assessment thatis completed by the individual. The CES-D contains 20-items rated on a 4-pointscale (0 = Rarely or None of the Timeto 3 = Most or All of the Time). Thephrase “Within the past week did you…” prefaces the questions in order toemphasize recent depressive mood. Scores are summed and can range from 0 to 60.Traditionally, individuals with scores over 16 are identified as “depressed”(Weissman, et al., 1977), though due to high false positive rates, a score of27 is considered a more useful cut-off (Zich, et al., 1990). The full scale canbe accessed at: http://www.chcr.brown.edu/pcoc/cesdscale.pdf. Items 4, 8,12, and 16 are reversed to avoid “yay-saying” or “nay saying” (Radloff, 1977). Severalstudies have validated four subscales across a variety of subgroups (i.e.,depressive affect, well-being, somatic, and interpersonal) (Gliem & Gliem,2003).
Demographics
Youwill learn how to go from raw demographic data in SPSS to describing a sample.
Forthis assignment, you will:

Assignment 2: Program Evaluation
Assignment 2: Program Evaluation
In this assignment, you will be considering a case study and then applying what you have learned in this module about research and evaluation.
Case Study
Beginning in March last year, a year-long media-based campaign was aired on radio and television and in print in British Columbia. Aimed at smokers in the age group of twenty to thirty years, it is intended to influence them in ways that will lead them to stop smoking.
The logic model for the smoking cessation campaign is quite simple and reflects the prevailing views about program theory that are relevant to this kind of campaign. Given below is a part of that logic model, focusing on outcomes. The components, implementation activities, and outputs are not shown, but they focus on the amounts of media coverage on the radio and television and in newspapers. The campaign is intended to last a year and is intended to be implemented in segments. The first segment begins in March and ends in April, the second one is being implemented in July and August, and the third in October and November.
As you can see from the logic model, the campaign is intended to initially reach a group of smokers in British Columbia (awareness of the campaign) and, once they are aware of the campaign, to increase their knowledge of smoking-related issues that might appeal to persons in that age group.
One television advertisement, for example, shows a man standing outside a bar smoking a cigarette. As he inhales, he ages. As he exhales, he becomes younger again. The message is that if you quit smoking, most of the effects on your body are reversible. A website is provided so that viewers can get information to help them quit. Exposure to these messages is intended to affect attitudes toward smoking (to make them develop a view that smoking is not good for them and that they want to change their behaviors). Attitude change is expected to lead to changes in behaviors: attempts to quit, cutting back on smoking, and actually quitting.
The Evaluation
The evaluation of this province-wide program is intended to determine whether the program logic works as intended, i.e., whether people are aware of the campaign, whether the campaign increases their knowledge, whether their attitudes change, and, finally, whether they try or succeed in quitting smoking.
The evaluation of the planned smoking cessation campaign in British Columbia is focused on the effectiveness of the campaign. More specifically, the evaluation is intended to address these questions:
What impact, if any, did the mass media campaign have on:
Awareness of the campaign itself.
Knowledge of the consequences of smoking.
Attitudes toward smoking.
Smoking-related behaviors.
The key issue for the evaluation design is to determine how the campaign affected the aforementioned attributes of persons who have self-identified as smokers.
Given that the campaign is province-wide, it will be difficult to find a control group that has not been exposed to the campaign. Given the costs of the campaign, the evaluation will need to focus on British Columbia and not try to find a comparison group in another province.
Population surveys of British Columbia residents suggest that approximately 15%–20% of the people in the age group of twenty to thirty years smoke. These smoking rates vary from one region to another and with sociodemographic characteristics of British Columbia residents.
Tasks:
Design an evaluation report that will be able to assess whether the smoking cessation campaign was successful. An important part of any proposed design is to assess whether the program theory actually worked the way it was intended, i.e., whether persons became aware of the campaign, whether their knowledge increased, whether their attitudes then changed, and whether attitude changes led to smoking cessation behaviors.
To ascertain whether the campaign impacts smokers in the way the program logic is intended, it is important to design an evaluation that actually tracks the way the campaign influences smokers over time. Ideally, the evaluation team wants to be able to see whether the program was visible; if it was, whether knowledge increased; if that happened, whether attitudes changed; and if attitudes changed, whether changes in behavior have been reported.
In a 2- to 3-page paper, explain the following:
What are the main features of your evaluation design?
How would it be implemented?
How does the design deal (if it does) with possible rival hypotheses (internal validity threats)?
How does the design address statistical conclusions, construct, and external validity?

Policy advocacy: nursing assignment help services
Policy advocacy is one of the key roles of human services professionals. It differs from advocating for clients in that it looks to inform those who are responsible for policy formation, such as politicians and leaders of large-scale organizations. Whether at a national, regional, or state level, policy advocacy efforts will have broad implications for how and when human services are delivered. In today’s world of diminished resources, policy advocacy can be the difference between being funded and not having the funds needed to help your clients. By engaging in opportunities with programs and organizations that receive federal or state funding, you may further support your advocacy effects and gain greater access to necessary resources.
Post a brief description of two different human services organizations. Explain how the organizations you selected are involved in policy advocacy. Then, from each organization’s perspective, explain one benefit and one limitation of engaging in policy advocacy. Be specific and provide examples. For this Select and explore one human services organization from this week’s media presentation and one organization from your own area of interest (Mental health counseling)

Need Essay, please: nursing assignment help
Hello,
I am need of a detailed essay on Social Anxiety Disorder and this is due on Jan 22 at 9:00 am. I apologize for the limited time but I hoping someone experienced in this can help. This essay needs to be 6 pages long. Below are the essay requirements.
Review the research literature on family factors (genetics, environment, behaviors) and cultural factors (race/ethnicity, income/social class, region of the country) that might be related to the etiology (origin), course of illness, and treatment of the illness. Consider both positive and negative views of the family’s role in mental illness generally and your selected disorder specifically. Cite the appropriate literature giving greatest weight to literature after 1990.
Using both popular and research literature, develop a description of how one or more family members might feel about their relative’s behavior and symptoms. What do they know about the illness? How do they react to the symptoms? How do they try to help? How do they make things worse, etc.? Cite the appropriate literature.
Using the information from the popular and research literature, develop a treatment plan that incorporates both medication (if warranted) and a family therapy based treatment.
What psychiatric disorder seems likely?
Kristopher is a 14-year-old boy who was recently accused by a female classmate of forcing her to have sex with him. He claimed that she agreed to have sex with him and then became angry because he went out with other girls. Kristopher is known as a bully and often fights with other students. He was removed from his biological mother’s home when he was 4 years old because she was unresponsive when he was repeatedly abused by her boyfriend. Kristopher was adopted by his current parents when he was 7 years old after he had lived in a series of foster homes. He was a known charmer. Despite his charm, however, he had difficulty controlling his temper and seemed to take pleasure in being cruel to other children and animals.
During the next few years, Kristopher’s adoptive parents tried to help him. They worked with the school to help him control his temper and provided him with therapy. However, his behavior became increasingly difficult to manage. He frequently lied and sometimes stole money from his mother. He began to spend time with other adolescents who were known to use drugs. His school performance, which had never been satisfactory, deteriorated even further. Soon after he was accused of the sexual assault, he ran away from home but was caught by police and arrested.
School Administrators have requested a clinical assessment be completed specific to Kristopher; and consequently, you have been asked to complete the assessment and make a brief presentation to aforementioned officials.
Please submit a written assignment addressing the following items:
Based on the case information alone what psychiatric disorder(s) seem most likely?
What internal and external strengths do you see in Kristopher’s case?
What specific treatment(s) would you recommend for Kristopher, and why?
You are asked by one of the school officials if Kristopher should be placed back in the classroom. How would you respond to this question? Please cite specific evidence (e.g. risk factors, etc.) to support your argument.
How does your understanding of childhood trauma influence your understanding and conceptualization of Kristopher’s presentation?

M3 crime and causes
You are an investigative reporter for a large news network. You are working on a news piece identifying how theories of crime explain specific crimes including the demographics of perpetrators and victims. You are required to make a thirty-minute presentation to your producers to convince them to run your story.
Choose a specific crime from the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program at the following:
US Department of Justice, The Federal Bureau of Investigation. (2009). 2008 Crime in the United States: About crime in the U.S. Retrieved from http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2008
Research this crime using your textbook, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet. Be sure to include the UCR and other crime reports in your research
Based on your research, develop a presentation that addresses the following:
Define the crime. Include both the legal definition and others as necessary.
Summarize demographics of the crime for both the perpetrators and the victim. Be sure to cover the following:
Gender
Ethnicity
Socioeconomic characteristics
Other relevant diversity issues
Choose two theories of the causes of crime that have been discussed and analyzed so far in the course; apply those theories to the selected crime. Be sure to cover the following:
Explain the type of each theory in detail.
Discuss the development of each theory and the main theorists associated with them.
Compare and contrast the two theories of crime selected. Discuss the ways in which they fit with the crime and the specific demographics associated with the crime.
Based on your research, develop your own hypothesis of the cause of this crime. Using the theories that you have chosen, you can develop your own “combination” theory.
Give valid reasons and scholarly, peer-reviewed sources in support of your theory.
You are allowed to present your theory in first person; however, be careful not to abuse this privilege.
Your presentation should include the following:
A title slide and a reference slide (these will not count towards the total number of slides).
At least five sentences of speaker notes for each section to clarify anything not included in the slides. (As this is a presentation the slides should cover the main points and the details should be covered in the speaker’s notes.) The speaker notes should be properly referenced.
Develop a 10–15-slide presentation in PowerPoint format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources
